Happy release day to Aurora Rose Reynolds! Baiting Him is available now through all your favorite retailers [Indiebound, B&N, Amazon, BAM] . It is book two in the How to Catch an Alpha series, but it is a standalone romance, so if you haven’t started the series or have never read Aurora, take this chance to jump in today!

Chrissie doesn’t have time for guys, hot or otherwise; most days, she barely has time to sleep. With a thriving bakery that demands her attention and plenty of proof that relationships aren’t worth the trouble, she’s content to go it alone. Too bad she’s unwittingly baited Mr. Tall, Dark, and Way Too Gorgeous—and he’s just waiting for a chance to bite.

Gaston is used to getting what he wants, but he also knows nothing good ever comes easy. From the moment he meets Chrissie, he realizes that this woman who makes him laugh, smells like cupcakes, and looks like a tasty snack is going to be his greatest challenge. And if he’s lucky, she’ll be his biggest reward.

But someone else wants to catch Gaston at all costs—even if it means endangering the lives of the people he loves. Somehow Gaston must thwart danger and convince Chrissie that he’s the perfect catch.

My “no spoilers” review:

Sweet, quirky, and at times painfully real, Baiting Him is a fun read that fans will love.

My “spoilers-full” deeper dive:

My Favorite Part:
There were a lot of painful truths in the family dynamics of this book, and I love how Aurora didn’t shy away from the hard moments. Parents can fall out of love, or never have loved at all, without kids realizing. Parents don’t always make the right choices and sometimes make situations worse even with the best intentions. The biggest truth was how much these flaws can impact the child, no matter the age, in their relationships — both romantic and familial. Watching Chrissie try to safely navigate her parents’ issues, while dealing with her own feelings about the situation, was real, painful, and I think it will resonate with a lot of readers.

My Biggest Wish

I know that so many people bemoan that inevitable moment of “miscommunication” or error that throws the hero and heroine into chaos just before the happily ever after. And I’ll admit that some are done quite well and some are done… not quite so well. Baiting Him avoided having to choose sides in this great debate by keeping most of Chrissie and Gaston’s conflict external, and I must say I missed it. I would have loved to see them fight more for each other, especially if we could have seen more from Gaston’s POV.
